Plan the process

Set up a team

You can't do this on your own - the first thing you will need to do is set up a team.

Decide how to engage the wider organisation(s) and even stakeholders in the process:

  • The staff as a whole
  • The senior management team
  • Trustees/elected members/other departmental heads
  • Volunteers
  • Users
  • Other stakeholders eg LEA etc.

Identify someone to lead the process and form a team

Agree the following

  • Who will be on the team?
  • What is the overall role of the team and individual responsibilities?
  • How often, when and where will you meet?
  • How will you keep all team members involved?
  • How will you record actions and issues arising

Agree milestones with dates for making and monitoring progress.

'Our new Museums and Collections team started to communicate more regularly, using a common language (e.g. lifelong learning, audience consultation, evaluation, access). We started to plan activities and events together, and to share examples of good practice.'
